Poster design
Year
2026
We made a set of A2 posters in loud reds and pinks with curling type, printed on everything from thick card to crinkly plastic.
Posters for a festival about posters
Paper Jam fills a car park with printers once a year. Thousands of designers turn up, which makes designing their poster a little scary.
The problem
Every visitor is a printing expert. The posters had to look great on the wall and survive a crowd of people inspecting the ink up close.
The process
We decided the posters should be the first exhibit.
Curly type. The letters bend and roll like paper coming out of a jammed printer.
Two loud colours. Red and pink, printed one over the other so the overlap makes a third.
Strange paper. Card, newsprint and crinkly plastic, so no two posters feel the same.
The result
Visitors took so many posters home that we printed a second run on the Saturday night.
We are counting that as a compliment.
Meanwhile, in a garage that smells of figs...
Meanwhile, at a print fair in a car park...
